		<description>you're in a good place for midwestern old time music. If you haven't already, pay a visit to the Old Town School of Folk Music (http://www.oldtownschool.org/). Lots of great pickers frequent the school. Also check out the chicago barndance scene (http://members.aol.com/fdccpub/fdscene.html). One of the better old timey bands in the area is the Volo Bogtrotters (http://members.tripod.com/~NailThatCatfish/volo.html) which features a host of really fine Illinois pickers.</description>

		<description>Well you have finally started to understand the music of Appalachia.  When I lived in Boone NC I was entrenched in music most of which was some form of bluegrass and much old timey too.  I love the stuff. it's great to hear recordings but even better to hear good live players pickin. take care and check out some doc watson he is a godfather of old time flat pickin.</description>
