Tonight after work I decided to whip up a quick twitter client in C#. I love C#. It is so fun and easy. I have never done web work in it, but love writing applications. So tonight I just sat down and slugged through the idea.
You can check it out at: http://flashandburn.net/twapp
The idea behind the client is a small application that will sit in your taskbar and constantly update you on your friend timeline. It will also allow you to easily update your timeline without upsetting your flow. It isn’t as feature full as i wanted it – but soon it will be more so. It works pretty good and doesn’t have TOO many bugs.
This is the prelude to the REAL twitter app i want to make – which will take your twitter status and update all your IM clients with that status. This way you can set your IM status from away. If anyone knows a decent way to write GOOD gaim plugins without me brushing up my C++ skills – let me know (and using perl is not a good way, its a solution – but i want style and pretty things).
Ok. I need to go home and eat FOOD!. This is the first blog post in awhile that i didn’t use the window live writer for.

2I like TwApp. Images don’t work though. Also, the word “is” after the name is a bit distracting as it doesn’t always fit. Also, the number of allow characters if significantly reduced from 160 to 85. Look forward to future versions. Keep up the nice work.

3seems to have a problem with the “&” symbol as well.

6Nice app! Though on your next verision could you make the font a little bigger? My old eyes are having trouble viewing my friends’ messages. ;)
Thanks!

7So is this Gaim plugin going to happen? That would give me a reason to actually use Twitter… (otherwise, Twitter has seemed pretty useless to me so far)

8I love to twitter, but I rarely have time for it. I wrote this program so I could quickly write a twitter post with only a few keystrokes. You should check it out.

It is open source too.
I really love the idea of having it update your im status, I started working on it but didn’t get to far. I was having trouble setting the status while not away. The only way I could work with the oscar protocol was through the oscar plugin for perl. Of course that is not an option because its hard to distribute perl on non linux boxes. Its really out dated too.
Well anyway,
I would love to see you get this working, I think it would be a hit in the Twitter community.
