I was thinking about how I have a lot of domains that are not being used and how that pisses me off. It is annoying to have a domain that costs 12 bucks or whatever (stupid joker) and isn’t making money - when I could. And a lot of times I am not really mad about it not making money - just mad it isn’t being used. I wish I either had a lot of energy, money, or an extra arm to finish all the sites I want to. So Thursday night I decided to do something with one of my domains. So I took fukung.net - which was supposed to be a Hong Kong cinema wiki - and turned it into a fun face to the nata2.info picture archive.
I made it really simple. Made it easy to add tags and find pictures. Made it easy to send the images to a friend. I also made it so I can track which picture is the most popular. Hopefully it will take off and people will use it like they use nata2.info. That would be nice. So check it out - I end up spending hours viewing it. hah. a lot of the pictures are horrible - but really funny. hah.

2Hello, I’m a complete stranger. I like fukung.com a lot and love the simplicity of its design. I’ve got an idea of my own, and whether you wanna hear it or not, here it is (you can stop reading whenever, of course. This is the internet): I basically want to make a website that can be a depository for practically anything; be it movie clips, images, text, whatever. Just a repository for any creative thought that anyone might have. Versatility would be the key, as I’d like to be able to accommodate everything from character names and movie titles all the way up to full movie scripts, or even full movies! Obviously, the logistics of storing all this crap have nothing to do with the designer of the site, but I was just wondering what it might cost to get code as crazy as this into existence (if it’s even possible, of course)?
Going into more detail, I’d desire the ability to have tiers of tags; ones that affect each entry on a bottom level that go by content, which would be user-supplied, and then larger categories which would be applied automatically by media type, as well as manually but moderated, like genres, target demographic, and so on.
A User system would be necessary to keep track of whose ideas are whose, and to sort users by their talents/desires.
This all sounds like way too much to fit into one site to me, and I know that a common frustration of people involved with realizing someone else’s idea is that the person supplying the idea has absolutely no clue what of their plan is feasible and what is impractical/impossible, so really what I’d like to know the most is where this idea aims too high as far as the coding is concerned, or if it is all practical, how much such a thing would cost to develop.
Probably the thing foremost in your mind (I think it would be in mine if I were you) is “why the heck is this dude coming to me spouting ideas and asking for advice?”
I don’t really have an answer for that, but the idea I have for this site works sorta similarly to fukung, just a bunch crazier, and also I just got done writing about in my underground ‘blog thing that me and maybe five of my close friends ever read, here: http://norock.no-ip.org (consequently, the entry you’ll find there has a lot of detailing about what I’d want this site to be).
I realize it’s risky to put forth concepts, but when they meet the right people, sometimes those are the projects that really change the world (like youtube or google or whatever), and that’s what this site is all about. Maybe you’ll take my idea to a company who wants to do something with it and make a lot of money off it, or maybe you’ll dismiss it as something not wasting time on. Maybe you’ll never even read this far! If you do, I’d appreciate a response. Thanks a lot!
